Kay and I retired from active ministry in 2017. Initially, we settled in Inman. Our 2022 Christmas present to ourselves was our brand-new home in Camden. We live close to my mother, Ruby Wood, our son Paul III and his family, and our daughter Jane and her family. It’s great to be in my hometown, Camden, South Carolina.

I love spending time with my family, with fellow clergy, and with neighbors. It’s a special joy to make new friendships. About once a year, Kay and I take a cruise overseas. We have been to East Asia, the Baltics, Alaska, Hawaii, Indonesia, Australia, the British Isles, Western Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, Israel, Iceland, Greenland, and the Maritime Provinces. Most of all, I enjoy researching, writing about, and making presentations about the American Revolution in South Carolina. I have authored about a dozen academic articles and a first-ever biography of Revolutionary War villain and South Carolinian William “Bloody Bill” Cunningham. My favorite Rev War heroine is Dicey Langston Springfield.
